James A. Miranda
James A. Miranda, 86, of Wallingford, died Monday, September 3, 2018. He was the loving husband of Barbara (More) Miranda of 55 years. He was born in New Haven, October 22, 1931, a son of the late Mark and Anna (Gargano) Miranda and was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. He was employed as a Draftsman for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 35 years and after retirement, drove a local school bus 15 years, just for the love of doing good in his community. A devout Catholic, Jim was a parishioner of Church of the Resurrection where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Men's Club and as a C.Y.O. teacher. He was a recipient of the St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation from the Archdiocese of Hartford and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his children, Maryanne Miranda (Rick Coe), James M. Miranda (Judith Lynn Young), and Karen Miranda (Shari Fogel); his grandchildren, Benjamin and Jacob Miranda; his sisters, Dolores Cofrancesco and Shirly Smith; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Miranda Sr.; and his nephew, Joseph Miranda Jr. His family would like to extend their thanks to Sal Pedalino and Louis Cofrancesco for all that they did for Jim. His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 9 to 10:20 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Church of the Resurrection where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
