In memory of
IAN BERTE
28, passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2019. He was a fine young man with a great attitude and a beautiful spirit that was cut short far too soon. His smile will be forever missed. We struggle with his physical absence but are comforted knowing he is in a better place surrounded by loved ones who passed before him, especially his grandmother Helen Berte, grandfather Joseph Halsmer, and younger brother Owen who never got to run or play. His surviving family includes his father Michael Berte, step-mother Kristy Berte, his mother Joann Halsmer Berte; his siblings Alex Brunner (Lindsay), Evan Berte, Michael Berte Jr., and Abigail Berte; his nephew Lucas Brunner; his grandfather Lawrence Berte and grandmother Josephine Halsmer Mangus; a nearly infinite number of aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as many, many friends. Ian attended Old Trail School through 2006 and was a 2010 graduate of St. Edward High School. After high school, he attended Tiffin University where he earned a degree in criminal justice. He had a special bond with animals and he will be missed by his cats Nugget and Duke. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Fortuna Funeral Home, 7076 Brecksville Road, Independence, Ohio 44131. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Basil the Great Church. All are welcome and asked to meet at the church. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
