Gerald A. Silva
Gerald A. Silva passed away on August 13, 2018, at his residence in Countryside Golf and Country Club, Naples, Fla., after a long and valiant battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Mr. Silva, a native of Easton, Mass., graduated from Oliver Ames High School in 1964. He was active in several sports and school government. He later attended Northeastern University and was employed by the Boston Office of the IRS, Criminal Investigation Division, where he enjoyed a long, challenging and meritorious career. After retiring from his home in Weymouth, Mass., to Florida, Gerry pursued his passion for golf and became proficient, winning the club championship in 2008. He continued his civic involvement becoming a member of the Homeowners Association board, and served as vice-president, and then president of the Executive Board in 2011 and 2012. Gerry will be remembered by, among other traits, his fondness for his Easton roots, dry and quick sense of humor, love of antique autos, and passion for all Boston sports teams. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony, brother, Mark, and former wife, Lynda. He leaves behind his mother, Hilda; wife, Catherine "Kit" of Naples and Durham, N.C.; son, Scott of Braintree, Mass.; and siblings, Bob of Rockville, Md., Donna of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Gina of Whitman, Mass.; as well as several nieces and nephews. Services will be at the Immaculate Conception Church, North Easton, Mass., on September 22, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charities of choice.
