In memory of
PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) — Dick Kazmaier, the last Ivy Leaguer to win the Heisman Trophy, has died. He was 82.
Princeton University says Kazmaier died Thursday in Boston.
Kazmaier played halfback for Princeton and in 1951 won the Heisman Trophy in a landslide, receiving 506 first-place votes and 1,777 points, which was a record at the time. In his final two college seasons, the Tigers went 18-0. His No. 42 was retired by the school in 2008.
The Ohio native passed on an NFL career after being drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1952, instead choosing to attend business school at Harvard.
He went on to found Kazmaier Associates, Inc., an investment and consulting firm that specializes sports marketing and products and is based in Concord, Mass.
