In memory of
Christian, David David Durant Christian, age 58, of Grandville, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2019 after a brief illness. David was born on December 24, 1960 in Flint, Michigan to Gene and Carolyn (Durant) Christian. After moving to Jackson, Michigan, he graduated from Parkside High School in 1979 and Jackson Community College in 1981. Service was always important to David, and this showed in his career choices where he spent much of his time providing exemplary customer service and leading others to do the same. He first worked for Domino's Pizza as a franchisee and later at Safelite Auto Glass where he made many wonderful friends over the years. As a young man, David was active in youth ministry at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, where he met the love of his life, Tracy. They married in 1984 and enjoyed 35 years of marriage together. David was a devoted and caring dad - raising a wonderful daughter, Kaelyn. He loved his church and was passionate about local missions and particularly loved the kids he served volunteering with the Meet Up and Eat Up program. David loved spending time on the water and could almost always be found on his boat in the summer months. He counted himself so lucky to live near Lake Michigan and loved spending time on the "big lake." David had a big heart and a quick smile, and was always ready to listen. David was preceded in death by his father, Gene H. Christian; mother, Carolyn D. Christian; and nephew, Michael D. Bonner. David is survived by his wife of 35 years, Tracy S. Christian, of Grandville; daughter, Kaelyn S. Christian, of Wyoming; sister, Catherine C. (Jeffrey) Bonner; brothers Thomas H. (Hollie) Christian and James A. (Christine) Christian; sister-in-law, Kristi J. Dunigan; and several nieces and nephews Drew (Merrick) Bonner, Catherine (Nick) Goudreau, Austin (Shelby) Bonner, Olivia and Victoria Christian, Nick Beasley, William and Michael Christian, Max, Keely and Nina Dunigan. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Fair Haven Church, 2900 Baldwin, Hudsonville, MI 49426, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to service. In honor of David and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jamestown Harbor Church Mission Fund.
