In memory of
Betty Doris (Sommers) Woodford
April 23, 1923 - August 27, 2019 Ten years to the month from which her beloved husband George passed away, Betty Woodford left her earthly adventure for the next... she left us peacefully in Newport Beach on August 27, 2019 at the age of 96. Betty was born in Chicago April 23, 1923 and grew up in Los Angeles where her mother's five sisters played an integral role in her upbringing. She caught George Woodford's eye at the age of 15 and she never lost it. During their 66 years of marriage they became world travelers visiting over 100 countries and learning about their cultures. They spent 2 years in America Samoa when George opened a bank and Betty became poker partners with the gals in town. After living in Pasadena they moved to Newport Beach, CA in the 60s and Betty became an active part of the philanthropic community. Their second home at the Whaler in Kaanapali, Maui, provided a paradise retreat and the ability to spend months every year with a multitude of friends. Betty will be forever remembered for her smile, positive attitude, and her deep love for her family: sons Rick (Kanara), Jim (Donna); grandchildren Alisha (Michael), Justin, Breton (Andrea), Lucas (Sherry); great-grandchildren Lorelei, George, Alanna, Dublyn, and Ivy. Betty was laid to rest September 1, 2019 at Pacific View Memorial Park in the Magnolia court.
