Barbara E. Malone
Barbara E. (Smith) Malone, age 90, of Carver, died on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Plymouth Harborside, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Robert Francis Malone. She was born in Boston, daughter of the late Stanley E. and Doris (Churchill) Smith. She was a retired nurse's aide at Mill Pond Nursing Home and had worked in the bakery at Shaw's in Plymouth. She had volunteered for 25 years at the V.A. Hospital. Barbara was a member of the V.F.W. 1822 Womens Auxiliary, where she sold poppy's. She was a member of the Duxbury Eastern Star. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed camping. Survivors include two sons, Robert Francis Malone Jr. of Carver, and Brian Douglas Malone of Hanover; two daughters, Donna Ann Barilaro and her husband John of Hanover, Cheryle Joann Volta and her husband Harold of Plymouth; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a great great-grandchild. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 11, from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St., Middleboro. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Central Cemetery, Carver.
