Andrew "Gump" Laconi
Andrew G. "Gump" Laconi, 77, of Butler, peacefully passed away at his residence on Friday, following an illness with his dedicated companion by his side. Born in Butler on Nov. 3, 1940, he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Ann Fejko Laconi. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. A retired truck driver, he also worked at Natili North Restaurant in Butler. He was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He belonged to the Sons of Italy. He is survived by his loving companion of 15 years, Denise Gavula; one daughter, Shannon Kenily and her husband, Kevin, of Zanesville, Ohio; two grandsons, Kadin and Koltin; and a number of devoted cousins whom he treasured and loved like brothers and sisters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Verlato Laconi, who passed away Jan. 20, 1997. LACONI - Friends of Andrew G. "Gump" Laconi, who died Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, will be received on Wednesday at Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Anthony R. Sciarappa officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the church by VFW Post 249, American Legion Post 778, and American Legion Post 117. Burial will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Michael the Archangel Church for Masses to be celebrated in memory of Andrew G. "Gump" Laconi.
