Rodney White
White, Rodney 1/31/1952 - 7/19/2021 Saline, Michigan Rodney Howard "Guppy" White of Saline, Michigan passed away Monday, July 19 after what he would classify as a bonafide 69 year run. Rodney was born in Ann Arbor on January 31, 1952 as the only child to Ruth Esther Olsterholt and Harold Howard "Boney" White. He graduated a Saline Hornet in 1970 with the school high jump record and spent his life in the Ann Arbor -Saline area. Guppy played many years and drank many beers in fast pitch softball league under the lights of Vet's park and beyond. He brought the party and the strikes to Colonial Lanes on Wednesday nights in colder months and on summer Wednesdays he could be found somewhere on the sandy (trap) beaches of Brookside Golf Course. He was a loyal member of the Ann Arbor Moose Lodge 1253 and a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion. Rodney drove for Gallup Silkworth Oil for more than a decade. He then went into automotive sales for over twenty years at Frank Grohs // Dexter Chevrolet // Grasslake Chevrolet // LaFontaine Chevrolet where he treated customers and coworkers like family. Rodney was a crazy and special person whose wit was unmatched. Asked how he was and the answer was typically "finer than frog's hair". Guppy was funny, scrappy, stubborn, and tender hearted. Guppy was well loved and spoiled rotten by his wife of 40 years Joanne Dupuis White of Dexter ((yes his kids wrote this but we are pretty sure that's what he would say)). The two of them were often spotted cruising roads with the Motown turned up and the top dropped down in the "big blue car" - a 1972 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale convertible. He is celebrated in legacy and personality by his son Anthony F.H. White ((wife Ashley White, son Winston R.A. White)) and daughter Kristen Nicole Brust (White) ((husband Preston Brust, daughter Love Lily Brust, son Legend Wilde Brust)). It was obvious he loved and was so proud his wife, children, and grand-babies by the way he carried paper pictures of his people with him at all times. The party in Heaven gained massive momentum Monday morning when Rodney met his parents and the rest of the rowdy White family that proceeded him in death. Celebration of a full and well lived life will be held this Saturday, July 24 from 1-3pm at Nie Funeral Home on Liberty
