In memory of
Marilyn Maaseidvaag
Maaseidvaag, Marilyn 5/19/1930 - 7/17/2021 Ann Arbor, Michigan Marilyn Anne Maaseidvaag, 91, passed away peacefully at home on July 17, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born in Ann Arbor on May 19, 1930, to John and Anna (Buss) Miller. She attended Ann Arbor Public Schools graduating from Ann Arbor High School in 1947. She earned her Bachelor and Master degrees at Capital University and the University of Pittsburgh. While working at the University of North Dakota, she met Frode Maaseidvaag from Stavanger, Norway. They returned to Ann Arbor and were married in 1960 at Zion Lutheran Church. They raised their two children in Ann Arbor, Lise Eldri and Lars Fredrik. Frode and Marilyn lived many places, always returning to Ann Arbor. They split their time between Ann Arbor and Pentwater, a place that yielded many memories with grandchildren and lasting friendships. Most important to Marilyn were her family and her many friends from all around the world. She also especially enjoyed volunteering at Zion Lutheran Church and with International Neighbors. Her mornings often started swimming with her Dawn Duck friends. Another passion was music and she particularly enjoyed attending the concerts of the AASO and was a long-time subscriber to the UMS, instilling in her children a love of music. She also found years of enjoyment in her gardens, growing both vegetables and flowers. She is survived by Frode; her children, Lise Wolken (Tom) and Lars Maaseidvaag (Jill Meyer); her grandchildren, Erik and Karin Wolken and Claudia and Bjorn Meyer-Maaseidvaag; her brothers, Robert (Lilli) Miller and Lauren (Barbara) Miller; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends. She was predeceased by her parents; and her sister, Kathryn Miller Kendig. A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 1501 W Liberty, Ann Arbor on July 24 at 3 pm. Visitation will precede the service at 2pm and a luncheon will follow after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Zion Lutheran Church Ann Arbor, International Neighbors Ann Arbor, and the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra (AASO), or an organization of your choice.
