In memory of
Susan Alice Van Emburg
Susan Alice Van Emburg MANASQUAN, NJ Susan Alice Van Emburg, age 67, passed away May 26, 2021, at her home in Manasquan, New Jersey. She was born September 22, 1953 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to Helen (d.2016) and Roscoe (d.2009)Van Emburg. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1971. Susan had many wonderful friends and co-workers, but the real love of her life was her little dog Kiwi, who she adopted after Kiwi was rescued from the California fires in 2018. She and Kiwi loved taking walks and going to the beach. Susan loved the holidays and spent many happy Thanksgivings and Christmases with family and friends, and, of course, with Kiwi. For most of her career, Susan worked as a legal secretary for a variety of large and small law firms in New Jersey and New York. She was a crackerjack secretary at every firm she served and was well liked and respected by all of her partners and associates. She always told you the truth, even if it was not what you wanted to hear - to her sisters and probably to her partners as well. She could make you laugh and cry in one phone call, because stubbornness was sometimes her middle name! Her sisters would talk to her often and try to convince her of their way of thinking, but she remained her own person and lived her life the way she wanted. Even though she lived at the beach, she still made regular trips to Phillipsburg to have a Colonial pizza and visit friends. She is survived by her sisters Judith Carberry (married to Paul Carberry) of Aiken, South Carolina, and Cheryl Van Emburg (married to Gustav Fichtner) of Salzburg, Austria, and her cousins Joan Fritts, David Van Emburg, Luann Persing, Pamela Kelley and David Van Emburg. All of these she loved and touched deeply. She will be missed so very much by all of us, and we hope that she has at last found peace and contentment. A private service will be held for the family. Memorial donations can be made to the senior animal home: Marty's Place, 118 County Road 526, Allentown, NJ 08501.
