Mark Dayton Lion, Jr., age 91, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 5, 2021. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ameldia Carmelite Rochon Lion; parents, Mark Dayton Lion, Sr., Ethel Courseault Lion; daughter, Melinda Lion and brother, Alvin Lion. Mr. Lion is survived by his children, Angelina Lion Ancar (John), Stephanie Lion Carter (Keith), Mark D. Lion, III (Charlene), Ameldia Lion and Paulette Lion Lotten (Michael). Grandfather of Mynnette Lion Williams (Michael), Melissa Ancar Marrero (Corey), Kasey Schexnayder Batiste (George), Michael Lotten, Anthony Lotten, Nicole Ancar Barthelemy (DaRon), Jeanne Renee Ancar and Cameron Lion. Step-grandfather of Alysse and Chelsea Lion, and Gina Carter. Great-grandfather of Corey Marrero, Jr., Charles Marrero, Melinda Williams, Michael Williams, III and George Batiste, Jr. Brother of Una Lion Rochon. Brother-in-law of Ramona Rochon Sigur and Clyde Sigur. Also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Mark attended Booker T. Washington High School and Circle Training Trade School. He was a Korean War Veteran who served as a Telecommunications Specialist. After returning home, he married his wife, Ameldia. He then went on to work in his chosen field as a certified carpenter and painter contractor with his family owned business. The Lion family wishes to express gratitude to the Palliative Caregivers and to Compassus Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of our beloved father. Relatives and friends of the family; Priests and parishioners of Corpus Christi/Epiphany Catholic Church, St. Mary's Academy and Sisters of the Holy Family are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of the late Mr. Mark Dayton Lion, Jr. will be held at Corpus Christi/Epiphany Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Avenue, New Orleans, LA. 70117 on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 10 a.m. Interment: Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation 8:30 a.m. in the church.
