She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Freddie Henry, Sr., brother, Joseph Marks Burfect, Jr., and sister, Martha Ellen Burfect-Dorsey. Anna was a devoted wife who, not only, cared for her husband as he was fighting his battle with cancer, she was also a caregiver to many of her family members. Anna was a gifted seamstress that was a perfectionist in sewing. She loved the Lord and accepted Christ at the early age of 11 under the stewardship of the late Rev. Anna also received her certificate in Administrative Office Technology from Meadows Draughon Business College in 1961. Anna worked as an Office Administrator for the Housing Authority of New Orleans. In 1982, Anna accepted an Office Administrative position at Tulane University College, in 1987 transferred to the Department of Multicultural Affairs working as an Executive Assistant under the auspices of Carolyn Barber-Pierre, Assistant Vice-President for Student Affairs & Intercultural life. As a devoted employee at Tulane, she was respected and appreciated by her superiors and greatly loved by the students she served in the department. Anna would host an annual "Crawfish Boil" at her home for her students (they looked forward to this event every year). Anna worked in Multi-cultural Affairs until her retirement in 1998. After her retirement, Anna signed up to work for the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Young Marine Program, as a tutor for at-risk youth.
