Salvador Moreno Velasquez Jr. Coachella, CA - Salvador "Sal" Moreno Velasquez Jr. entered into eternal rest on May 26, 2021 at his home in Indio, California. Sal 82, was born on January 7, 1939 in Indio, California to Salvador and Mary Velasquez who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother Alberta Velasquez and his granddaughter Breanna Velasquez. He is survived by his loving wife Jennie of 59 years, his 4 children; Andy; Albert; Paul and Diane (Al) Sandoval, along with his 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was a graduate of Coachella Valley High School and retired from the Coachella Valley Unified School District. Sal's accomplishments included receiving awards from the city of Coachella as the "Citizen of the Year" in 2007, community advocate of the "International Hispanic" award in 2008 and the Proclamation award from the city of Coachella in 2008. He always worked tirelessly for the safety of Coachella residents. He was also a band member of the "Renes" a local band. He will sadly be missed. The Velasquez family extends our warm appreciation to the staff and care givers of Bristol Hospice. Funeral Service will take place Friday, June 18, 2021 beginning with a funeral Mass at Our Lady of Soledad Catholic Church in Coachella at 10:00AM, followed by Graveside Service at Coachella Valley Cemetery.
