In memory of
Michael Patrick Hannigan
Michael (Mike) Patrick Hannigan, age 59, died suddenly on Friday, May 28, 2021. He was born on January 5, 1962 to Bill and Florence Hannigan in Birmingham, AL. The family has lived in Homewood, Decatur and Birmingham. Mike graduated in 1980 from W.A. Berry High School. After attending Jacksonville State University, he began a 40-year successful career in the cable and fiber-optics industry. He is survived by his parents, Bill and Florence Hannigan; his wife, Heather Hannigan; his son, Billy Hannigan; his stepson Kyler Adams; his sisters Patti Hannigan, Debbie Porter (Todd), Lynn Lett (Brian) and Katie Hannigan; his nieces and nephews, Jason, Kristin, and Brandon Lett and Mallory, Chad (Emily) and Cassidy Porter; and many, many cousins, aunts and uncles. Through the years our family has enjoyed many trips and adventures and Mike made them all so much more fun. The nieces and nephews called him their 'funcle'. Mike was the life of the party, the person everyone gravitated to, was loved by many and never met a stranger. He had a huge personality, gave great hugs, loved BIG, and never parted without saying 'I love you'. If any of his loved ones were sick or hospitalized, he was there as an excellent caregiver. He was his parents 'favorite son' and his sisters 'favorite brother' and all adored their 'Bubs'. There will never be another MIKE. He was one of kind. He was a loving husband to Heather and together they made many memories and she will continue to honor his legacy. He was a proud and supportive dad to his son and a great mentor to his stepson. A funeral mass will be said at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 2:00 PM with visitation from 12:30-2:00. Immediately following the service, a 'Celebration of Life' will be held where all can share stories of Mike. Until we meet again, you will be loved and missed.
