Milton Randolph Long
Milton Randolph Long Fort Mill, SC - Milton Randolph Long of Fort Mill, SC, originally from Roanoke, VA, was called home by his heavenly father on Thursday, May 6, 2021. His earthly work had been completed and now he is beginning his eternal journey in Heaven! Milton was born in Roanoke, VA on November 3, 1952 to the late George Robert and Arletha Hancock Long. Additionally, he is preceded in death by his grandparents James Edward and Viola Moon Long and his son, Marques Irving Long. He attended schools in the Roanoke City School system, graduating from William Fleming High School in 1971. Milton, and his two older sisters, had the distinguished honor of being part of the first group of 9 Black Students to integrate public schools in Roanoke and the second group in the state of Virginia. Milton gave his life to Christ and was baptized at an early age at Jerusalem Baptist Church and later joined First Baptist Church-Gainsboro, both in Roanoke. This early religious foundation stayed with him his entire life. Upon graduating from high school, he attended Virginia State College (University) where he was a walk-on basketball player. After realizing the importance of his degree, he focused his energy on his books which led to his graduating cum laude with a degree in Business Administration. Milton developed lifelong friendships through his membership in Party Phi Party, a social fellowship group, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity thru his birth chapter - Nu Psi Chapter - which he continued to serve till the day he died. Over 47+ years, Milton earned several Omega Man of the Year and Distinguished Service awards. Milton worked for Caterpillar, Inc in its Treasury and Finance Department for 38 years, ascending to senior management levels until his retirement in 2013. He leaves to cherish his life, journey and legacy, his wife, Sharon Renee Long, his children Dominique Dorsey and Quentin Long, granddaughter, Zoey Madison Dorsey, his loving sisters Cecelia Long, Rosiland (George) Mitchell and Marsha Long Brooks, cousin/sister Angel Jones, cousin Robert Bryant, Jr, Mother and Father-in-Law Robert and Annie Hicks, Sister and Brother-in-Law Jeff and Michelle Davis, best friend\brother Leon J. Craighead, and a host of relatives, friends, Fraternity Brothers and acquaintances. The Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Long will be 1pm. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at West End Baptist Church, 1727 McConnells, Hwy., Rock Hill, SC. Burial will take place at 1pm, Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Williamson Memorial Gardens, 3009 Columbia Avenue, Franklin, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Robinson Funeral Home, 534 Hampton Street, Rock Hill, SC.
