Eugene Vincent Rome February 24, 1935 - April 29, 2021 It is with great sadness we announce that Eugene "Gene" V. Rome, 86, of Grand Junction, passed away April 29, 2021. Gene was born in Colby, Kansas, on February 24, 1935, to Barbara (Rohr) and August Rome. At 19, he met the love of life and best friend, Jeannine (Richardson). They married in Denver, Colorado in 1956. Working as a Grocer, Gene and Jeannine moved around Colorado raising five wonderful children. His last day was spent in his favorite spot at Vega State Park. He enjoyed the afternoon sitting on the front porch of his cabin, relishing his view. He was a strong patriarch, a loving father, and grandfather, and a man who held strong to his religion and beliefs. He took great pride in his family. He is most loved and will be immensely missed. Gene is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, and three brothers. He is survived by his wife; sister; two brothers, and all of his children. He also leaves behind in total 12 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held June 11, at 12:00 p.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary. Rosary service will precede at 11:00 a.m. Donations can be made to Catholic Outreach.
