In memory of
Grazyna "Grace" Wojtusiak
Grazyna "Grace" Wojtusiak, 59 years old of Newington, passed away at home with her family by her side on Sunday, April 25, 2021. Grace was a true fighter, battling a nearly 4-year battle with lung cancer, not caused by smoking. She was born on June 9, 1961 in Gorlice, Poland. Grace immigrated to the United States in 1981 where she met and married her husband Richard Wojtusiak and became the mother to three children. Grace appreciated the finer things in life and had a strong-willed, though magnetic, personality. She loved to travel and went on many trips around the world with her friends seeing places like Turkey, Egypt, Africa and Thailand where she was excited to learn about different cultures and ways of life. "Fashionable" was a word that many used to describe her; always the classiest in a room full of people, wearing designer clothing and looking put-together at all times. Grace was heavily involved in the community with roles as a Vice President of the Polish Language School of New Britain, as her Polish culture was important to her. In addition, she was the Chairperson of the Supervisory Committee at UBI Credit Union for 5-years. Her work ethic was strong, refusing to let her illness prevent her from continuing to excel at her career. Most recently, she spent 6-years at Hartford HealthCare as an Accounts Payable Supervisor and prior to that role, many years spent at Dairy Farmers of America (Guida's), Stanley Black & Decker as well as Carvel Corporation. She met many life-long friends through those jobs and was surrounded by many other great friends in the U.S. and in Poland. Along with her husband, Richard, she is survived by her children: Vanessa Wojtusiak of West Hartford, William Wojtusiak of Newington, and Victoria Wojtusiak and fiancé Michael Szewczyk of Newington, her mother Joanna (Wacek) Rachel, brother Krzysztof Rachel and wife Sylvia, brother Mieczyslaw Rachel, sister in-law Elizabeth (Maliszewski) Rachel, brother in-laws: Stanislaw Wojtusiak and his late wife Jolanta Wojtusiak, Krzysztof Wojtusiak and his wife Malgorzata, sister in-law Maria (Wojtusiak) Lindgren and her husband Egert as well as and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father, Julian Rachel and older brother, Andrew Rachel as well as mother-in-law Jadwiga (Lyzwa) Wojtusiak, father in-law Bronislaw Wojtusiak. Calling hours will be on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 2 to 6 p.m. at New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by the funeral liturgy at Holy Cross Church, 31 Biruta St., New Britain at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
