Dorothy Jean "Dot" Washington
Dorothy "Dot" Jean Washington was a caring, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She left this world suddenly on April 17, 2021 at age 75. She was born to the late Nathaniel and Amelia Austin on March 7, 1946 in Harlem, New York. She grew up in Harlem and attended the public school system in NYC. After graduating high school, Dorothy chased her dreams to find success in the big city where she met her husband and the love of her life, Melvin Washington. Dorothy pursued a career in the New York court system and later would hold her final position in Accounting at Israel Discount Bank of New York where she retired in 1998. Dot had an awesome ear and love for music. She loved and greatly enjoyed spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals and desserts for her family. Dorothy is survived by her two daughters: Jamille Washington and Janeen Washington; her two granddaughters: Jaylah Horn and Jayanna Horn and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation: 9:00am – 10:00am, Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the funeral home Funeral Services: 10:00am, Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Dorchester Funeral Home, 7842 E.
