Raymond J. Atilano Born: July 12, 1930; La Salle Died: April 14, 2021; Peru DEPUE – Raymond John Atilano, 90, of DePue, died Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at St. Margaret's Health, Peru, IL. A public memorial visitation for Ray will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in DePue. However, due to COVID-19, only 50 people will be allowed at one time. A private memorial Mass, only for 50 friends and family members that have been invited, will begin at 11 a.m.The Rev. Kevin Creegan will officiate. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, please wear a mask and abide by social distancing guidelines. Private family burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in DePue. Ray was born on July 12, 1930 in La Salle, the son of Ysidoro and Mary Atilano. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the 1st Infantry Division. He married Frances Espinoza on December 26, 1951 and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in DePue.He loved his children, family and friends. Surviving are his two sons, Raymond Benny of Austin, Texas, and Daniel Ray of Sleepy Hollow, Illinois; his sister, Judy Munoz of Fort Madison, Iowa; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and two sisters. His smile, hugs, kindness, and laughter will be missed by all.
