In memory of
Early Mae Cazenave Peterson
Early Mae Cazenave Peterson a.k.a Early and Grandma was born May 16, 1938 and departed this life early Saturday morning, April 10, 2021 at the age of 82. She attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic School. At the age of 16, she married her devoted husband, Joseph Samuel Peterson, Sr., became a housewife, and raised their children-seven boys and six girls born to their union. Early was a woman who was all about family. She enjoyed listening to music, watching cowboy movies, Perry Mason & Matlock, playing cards, and going to the casino. Early also loved playing oldies but goodies, buying things off the shopping channels and QVC, giving her grandchildren all of her money-if anybody tried to tell her otherwise, she would just say: "This is mines!" Early had a passion for trying to make peace. And she always tried to listen to both sides of a story. Her favorite were, "A Change Is Gonna Come" by Sam Cook, "Clean Up Woman" and "After The Pain" by Betty Wright. Early was an amazing woman, wife, mother, friend, grandmother and sister. If you knew her, you know she was funny and laid back. Her famous saying was "It takes two to get it started." She also once said, "Time waits for no one, so get it together while you can." Early was a Christian woman who always read the Bible and quoted scriptures. And she made sure to keep Novena around and gave them to anybody she thought needed them. She leaves to cherish her memories 13 children: Juanita Ward, Joseph, Robert, Veronica, Linda (Edward), Lewis, Angela, Albert (Gaynell), Deborah, Troy, John (Constance), Fenton, and Shawn Peterson, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, grand and great-grandchildren and many friends. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 66 years, Joseph Samuel, Sr., parents, Beatrice, and Edward Cazenave, eight siblings, Mary (Charles) Quillens, Georgia Emelda (Pee Wee) Minor, Jeanette (Rev. Allen) Hall, Arthemease (Milton) Lassair, Joseph Arthur, Willie, Edward, and Freddie Cazenave, a daughter-in-law, Sherry Lee Peterson, three grandkids: Quincy Ward, Edward Lewis, and Lawrence Ward, and her great-grandchild Jo'Nyri Hawkins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.muhleisen.com.
