Michele Campitelli
Michele "Mike" Campitelli, 87, of West Hartford, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was the widower of Carmela (Peluso) Campitelli, his loving wife of 45 years. Born on January 28, 1934, in Casoli, Provincia di Chieti, Italy, he was the son of the late Antonio and Antonietta (Consalvo) Campitelli. Prior to immigrating to the U.S. in 1970, Michele proudly served in the Italian Army. Michele retired from the Heublein Corporation of Farmington after many years and later worked for the West Hartford Public School System. He was also a long time member of the Mt. Carmel/St. Cristina Society. Michele could always be found tending to his garden and grape vines or relaxing in his chair at the door of his garage tackling a new Word Search. The delicious meals that he shared with family and friends were sure to include fresh vegetables from the garden and a glass of his own homemade wine. He also loved the beach and taking his family on memorable vacations to the shore. More than anything, he cherished every moment that he could spend with his family, children, grandchildren and his newly arrived great granddaughter. Michele is survived by a son, Serafino Campitelli and his wife Marie of West Hartford; a daughter, Antonietta Holland and her husband Daniel of West Hartford; three grandchildren, Daniel Holland, Jr. of Stamford, Michael Campitelli and his wife Kimberly of West Hartford and Danielle Campitelli of West Hartford and his precious little great granddaughter June Reese. In addition, he leaves a brother, Gino Campitelli and his wife Piera of Italy; a sister, Lucietta Corbo and her husband Angelo of Italy; three sisters-in-law, Vicenzina Campitelli of Italy, Grazietta Campitelli of Venezuela and Angela Campitelli of Italy and many extended family members and friends. Michele was predeceased by three brothers, Carmine, Angiolino and Alberto Campitelli. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 – 6 p.m. on Friday (April 23rd) at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 24th at St. Brigid Church (St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish), 1088 New Britain Ave., West Hartford. Everyone is asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. To leave a message for the family, please visit www.desopofuneralchapel.com
