Thomas J. "Pop" Adams
Thomas "Pop" J. Adams Thomas "Pop" J. Adams passed away on April 8, 2021 at the age of 97 after a short illness. Pop passed away in Morristown Medical Center in the company of his three children. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey on February 27, 1924, Pop spent much of his early life in New York, and he moved to Rockaway, New Jersey in 1962. Pop was predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Doris P. Adams, who passed away in October, 1995. Pop is survived by his three children, Thomas Adams (wife Elise), Robert Adams (wife AnnMarie), and Johnna Charette. Pop is also survived by his sister, Blanche Adelman, who lives in Belvidere with her husband, Fred. Pop was an amazing, loving father and grandfather, leaving behind 7 grandchildren, Thomas, Stephen, Jillian, Lauryn, Patrick, Liv, and Tara as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. A veteran of WWII, Pop served in the Army in the South Pacific in the New Guinea and Philippine Campaigns, and he enjoyed telling stories of his time there. Pop attended the University of Rhode Island as well as the University of Nebraska. In a long career of over 30 years, Pop worked as a security analyst with Morgan Guaranty Trust Company in NYC. Pop's greatest passion was his family. He loved to be part of any event that involved his children and grandchildren, no matter the occasion. To say Pop was an avid sports fan is an understatement. From the time he was a young boy, he loved to play, watch, and attend baseball games. He also enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Pop especially loved watching the Ponies, and he enjoyed placing a bet or 2 along the way :) Pop loved being around people, and he made friends everywhere he went. He was an expert conversationalist, and he could always find something interesting to talk about with anyone. Pop was a class act, and over the course of 97 years, he had an opportunity to touch the lives of many people. Visitation will be at the Goble Funeral Home in Sparta on Thursday April 15 from 3pm to 7pm with a funeral mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Sparta on Friday morning at 11.30. In Lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Wounded Warrior Project at http://woundedwarriorproject.org
