Norman Leroy Haugen
Norman Leroy Haugen Jan. 26, 1942 - Feb. 20, 2021 Norman was born and lived in Portland. His immediate family included his parents, Angeline née Heshedahl and Ole Haugen and his siblings, Melba Roth, Mavis Shaw, Walter, and Shirley Brandt, the only one still living. The children were second generation Norwegian-Americans who graduated Vernon ES and Jefferson HS. Ole established Haugen Automotive where many family members and other mechanics worked. Norman owned the company after Ole retired and he closed the business nearly a century after its founding. Norm was a kind and generous spirit. He was a devout Christian, a patriotic American, and an Army veteran who was a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam. His death was natural and his ashes are in Willamette National Cemetery.
