Shirley M. Gerth
Shirley Marie Gerth, age 84, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Born July 10, 1936 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Hilbert and Ada (Sweigart) Brown. Shirley was a graduate of William Penn High School and had worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a key punch operator until her retirement. She enjoyed trips to the beach and was a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church in Shiremanstown where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Shirley's love of singing also led her to sing with the Sweet Adelines. Shirley was recently preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Gerth and was also preceded by her brother, Charles Brown. Surviving is her loving daughter, Lisa Joy Dowdrick and husband Joseph of Duncannon. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday April 9 at Bible Baptist Church in Shiremanstown where there will be a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 270, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
