Lewis E Pugh Jr. March 29, 2021 Puyallup, Washington - Chief Master Sergeant (Ret) U.S. Air Force Lewis E Pugh Jr was born July 3, 1933 at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C. he resided as a youth in Norfolk VA where he attended Granby High School prior to his enlistment into the United States Air Force on July 16, 1951. Duty stations in the Air Force were: Sampson A.F. B. New York (1951), Sheppard A.F.B. Texas (1952), Chanute A.F.B. Illinois (1952), Donald A.F.B Greenville, S.C. (1953), Erding A.F.B. Germany (1953/54), Tripoli A.F.B. North Africa (1954), Luke A.F.B. Arizona (1955), McGuire A.F.B. New Jersey (1956/61), Harmon A.F.B. Newfoundland (1961/64), McCord A.F.B Tacoma, Washington (1964/72) TEMPORARY MILITARY DUTY ASSIGNMENTS: England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Iceland, Greenland, Philippines, Guam, Wake Island & Japan. MILITARY DECORATIONS: Meritorious Military Service Award, Air Force Commendation (2 oak leaf clusters), Air Force Outstanding United Awards (2 oak leaf clusters), Army of Occupation (Germany), National Defense Senior Non-Commission Officers Academy. Retired as Chief Master Sergeant (E-9) March 1, 1972. He was the flight line maintenance chief for 62nd OMS at time of retirement. CIVILIAN EMPLOYMENT EXPERIANCE AFTER MILITARY RETIREMENT: Clover Park Technical College Tacoma, WA. (1972-1994) Administration, counselling, teaching and director of personnel, developed and implemented seven vocational tech programs, bowling maintenance, vending machine mechanic, computerized amusement machine repair tech, electronic fire/security tech, heating/air conditioning tech, security /loss prevention specialist and plastic technician. He developed and taught the career exploration program (e.V.E.) for Clover Park and Lakes High School students. He provided over 1,620 high school students with career education that assisted 90% of students to gain employable skills. Five of those came back to work within the Clover Park School District. For 15 yrs (1982-1997) he was the monthly guest speaker for the Washington Women's Employment Education (WWEE) program in Tacoma WA. He provided hundreds of women who were on state welfare rolls with knowledge of educational opportunities which existed through vocational education along with financial management and budget skills. Awarded the Outstanding Vocational Program award for the State of Washington (1776) He is survived by his wife of 43 years Nella M. Pugh of Green County Tenn., three children, Lewis E Pugh Jr III, Jeffery S. Pugh and Kristy Pugh and four step children, Sharon Baker (Dahl), Janice Baker (Kanar), David Baker & Jeb Baker. Grandchildren Nichole K Dayton, Jessica J Jones, Johnathan B Jones, step grandchildren Morene A Dahl, Carisa M Dahl, Christina R Pickens, Jessica L Pickens, James L Kanar, Great grand stepchildren Haley Cramer, Kaitlyn Watson, Henry J Pierman and Logan H Dahl. He was a member of the following Associations: Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) Life member, Non-Commissioned Officers Association (NCOA), The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA) Life member, National Association for Uniformed Services/Society of Military Widows (NAUS), Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) Life member, Retired Sergeants Major & Chiefs Association (TRSMCA), Air Force Association (A.F.A.), American Retirees Association (A.R.A), Center for Military Readiness (CMR) and the 62nd Troop Carrier/Airlift Wing Association, The American Legion and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
