Joseph Saavedra
Joseph Saavedra Joseph Saavedra a brilliant hair and make-up artist passed away February 19th of Covid 19 at his home in Albuquerque. He Was 66 years old...He was orphaned and raised by his grandparents. His love of hair began when he was 9 years of age and his dream came true when he opened his salon in Albuquerque in1980, mentoring dozens of young stylists. In 1986 he brought his talents to Palm Springs of which his celebrity clientele included Jill St.John, Betty Ford, and his most coveted client Barbara Sinatra. From 1987-1989 he created the hair and make-up for all the covers of Palm Springs Life Magazine under the photographic direction of Arthur Coleman. Joseph was also active in the March of Dimes and Barbara Sinatra Children's Center. He returned to Albuquerque in the early 90's and founded "Pennies for the Homeless" an organization that supports the homeless and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for it.
