Richard L. Arndt Sr.
Arndt Sr., Richard L. Richard L. Arndt Sr, age 83, entered into eternal life after a brief illness on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. He was born on March 23, 1938. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Tre'von Arndt; parents, Raymond and Leah Arndt; brother, Mark Arndt; sister and brother-in-law, Katherine and Paul Cruikshank; niece, Ann Cruikshank – Slomkowski. He is survived by the mother of his four children, Lucille Arndt; and his children, Richard Arndt Jr, Doug (Tanya Tarasiewicz) Arndt, Judy Agarwal, and Brenda (Boyd) Bender. He was the proud grandparent of: Heather Flak, Shane (Jill Latham) Arndt, Taylor (Hollie Griffith) Arndt, Adell Arndt, Zoria Arndt, Erin Little, Lindsey (Seth Recker) Bender, Lauren Bender, Maya Agarwal, Meera Agarwal, Travis Ingerson, Trevor Ingerson. He was also the great-grandparent of Myles Arndt, Maverick Arndt, Tanner Heyduk, Tristan Little, Chandler Little, Skye Little. He leaves behind many family members and friends. Highlights of his career included working for the Grand Rapids Police Department as a Police Officer and Cannon Township as a Tax Assessor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most of all dogs. He enjoyed long walks with his dogs, visiting with family and friends, and watching dogs from his porch at his apartment at Grandview Apartments, and visiting and telling you about the articles he read in the newspaper. He was known for his ability to make homemade chocolate and peanut butter fudge, and Mexican candy. Visitation with the family will take place on Tuesday, April 6 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at Barto & Son Funeral Home, located at 1401 Quarry Avenue NW, Grand Rapids Michigan 49504. There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony on Wednesday, April 7, 11:00 AM at SS Peter & Paul Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, 3680 44th Street Se, Suite 201 Kentwood, Michigan 49512 or Displaced Doggs of Southwest Michigan, 702 West Superior, Wayland, MI 49348. After the visitation and Celebration of Life ceremony, he will be cremated and laid to rest at Cherry Valley Cemetery in Avondale Michigan with a private graveside service.
