Gary Grant Bessey
Gary Grant Bessey, 78, passed away at home on Thursday, March 25, 2021. He was born Oct. 21, 1942 in Tawas City, one of five children of the late Grant and Florence (Sherman) Bessey. On Feb. 13, 1965, he married Donna Kuerbitz, also from Tawas City. They relocated to Lansing where he later retired from GM (Fisher Body) with over 30 years of service. Gary and Donna had two children, Brian and Dawn. Gary enjoyed many activities including gardening, camping, fishing, hunting and was an avid reader. After retirement, Gary and Donna had the pleasure of traveling the world and eventually settled down and found the perfect spot in Lakeland, Fla. where the enjoyed spending the winter months. The summer months were spent in Michigan enjoying time with his family. Family was very important to him and he treasured the time spent with all of them. He is survived by wife, Donna; his son, Brian (Susan) of Lake Orion; his daughter, Dawn Scott (Joe) of Perry; and grandchildren, Olivia, Courtney, Abby, Jack, Connor, Grant, Cody and Will. He is also survived by brother, Darell Bessey (Darlene); sister, Dixie Clayton (Bob); sister, Lois Lynn (Lee); and brother Doug Bessey (Marsha).
