JACQUELINE RAE LAUDER APRIL 4, 1927 ˜ MARCH 1, 2021 Jacqueline Rae Lauder of Vancouver, WA, passed away March 1, 2021 at the age of 93, with her children Jan Lauder Griffin and Patrick Lauder at her side. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Douglas (Doug) Lauder, in 2008. Known as Jackie to her friends and family, she was born to parents Harold and Almira Painter in Gerber, CA, April 4, 1927, the second of their six children: Norman, Jackie, Larry, Gail, Sally and Rodney. She married Douglas Lauder in Oregon City, OR, April 1, 1957. During their marriage they followed Doug’s career assignments as a pharmaceutical sales rep to Salt Lake City, UT, and Tacoma, WA, before settling permanently to raise their family in Vancouver in 1969. Jackie loved being a wife, mother, Nana, homemaker, and a consummate “neighborhood mom”. She was active in the lives of her children and their friends, with their house acting as a second home and gathering place for many, and was always ready to provide transportation to athletic events, music performances, field trips, etc. She enjoyed baking homemade treats for the neighborhood kids, and was the reliable sentry often requested to watch over the homes, mail, newspapers and pets of neighbors when they went out of town. She participated in the PTSA for her children’s’ schools, and was a member of the Vancouver Rose Society and Northwood Neighborhood Association, serving as “First Lady” during her husband Doug’s terms as President of those organizations. She was a die-hard sports fan who spent many hours watching and cheering for her favorite teams, the Portland Trailblazers and Timbers. Nana Jackie lived a long, full and independent life to the very end. She loved her family and friends very much, and was well-loved in return. She is survived by her daughter, Jan (John) Griffin of Washougal, WA; her son, Patrick (Christy) Lauder of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren, Drew, Kayla, Brig, Tyler, Wyatt, Aspen and Addisyn; and four great-grandchildren, Eve, Norah, Angelus and Jack. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Vancouver Funeral Chapel, 110 E. 12th Street. Memorial contributions can be made in Jackie’s name to Ray Hickey Hospice House at Peace Health Southwest Foundation, P.O. Box 1600, Vancouver, WA 98668.
