Dyer, Peter 9/28/1932 - 3/10/2021 Ann Arbor, Michigan Peter Lynn Dyer, 88, passed away March 10, 2021, in Fort Myers, Florida. Born on September 28, 1932, to John and Genevieve (Lynn) Dyer in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1952, where he played football and was a member of "The Glory Days" group. On January 16th, 1954, he married Jane Marie (Wanzeck), who preceded him in death. Settling in Ann Arbor, Michigan, they had 4 children. James (Jeanette Swanson), Marshall, MI; Jeanette, Wimberley, TX; John, Fort Myers, FL and Jennifer Craig, Wimberley, TX. Pete had a larger-than-life personality and he put it to good use. He proudly served as an AE2 in the United States Naval Reserve. In 1958, Pete began working as a Draftsman for Buhr Machine Tool Company, later Bendix Corporation. One day, during an installation effort at GM's Hydramatic, his exceptional engineering aptitude was observed by the Plant General Manager. With the General Manager saying to his bosses… "Don't come back tomorrow without that kid". He was promoted to Sales Engineer, working his way to Senior Sales Engineer within a few years. After retiring, for the first time in 1982, he again worked as Sales Engineer/Consultant with Comau, an Italian automotive company, and the Lamb Corporation. Once fully retired, Pete spent summers in Michigan and winters in Fort Pierce, Florida. Opening a "Handy Man" business with a close friend. He loved to play golf, travel, watch Michigan football and spend time with his family and friends. Pete was many things over the years, but one of his favorites was being Papa to his 3 grandchildren. Patrick Dyer, Joseph Dyer and Shannon Craig. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jane; his older sister Mary Therese McCormack; and a younger brother, Timothy Dyer. He will be laid to rest, with his wife, at St. Thomas cemetery in Ann Arbor. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
