Ada Underwood
Ada Underwood Loudon - Ada O. Underwood - age 103 of Loudon passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021. She was a native of Knoxville and one of seven children. Her parents were Robert M. and Julie Clendennen Ogle of Knoxville. She moved to Loudon in 2017 to be closer to her son and daughter. Ada was the oldest living member of Macedonia United Methodist Church of Knoxville and had been a member for over 90 years. She taught children's Sunday School classes, served on the Administrative Board and many other church committees, and in later years, served as Church Hostess. Ada retired as manager of Paul Parrott's Cloth Shop and was an accomplished seamstress. In later years, she began quilting and made quilts for each of her six great-grandchildren. She enjoyed Jazzercise and water exercises for many years. Ada also enjoyed traveling and visited many states and several countries. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and their families in Georgia. Ada is preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Thomas Aubrey Underwood; and infant son, Robert Wayne Underwood. She is survived by son, Gary (Joyce) Underwood; daughter, Gail (Bill) Burris; grandsons, Jeff Burris and Scott (Heather) Underwood; granddaughter, Gina (Rick) Holecek; great-grandchildren, Ada Burris, Ella Burris, Ryan Holecek, Cara Holecek, Jackson Underwood, and Anniston Underwood; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ada is also survived by a very special friend, Don Hancock and his family. The family will receive friends 12:00-3:00 PM on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Bridges Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Monday, March 8, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Caledonia Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Michael Jennings. Family and friends are welcome to attend; please observe mask-wearing and social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church, 4630 Holston Drive, Knoxville, TN 37914 or to a charity of your choice.
