Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Ann B. Baker, 86, of Verona, VA, passed peacefully on Thursday, February 18, 2021. She was born on January 22, 1935, in Elizabeth City, NC to Elisha David Russell and Lois Russell Ballance. Ann married Charlie R. Baker in 1960. They moved from Virginia to Casselberry, FL when Charlie retired from the Navy in 1969. They resided in Altamonte Springs until his passing in 2019. Ann served at Woodlands Elementary School in Longwood, FL as a PE assistant. She also worked at Goodings Supermarket as a customer service manager in Maitland, FL for 14 years. Ann and Charlie were foster parents for thirteen children. Upon retirement, she volunteered at the Christian Sharing Center in Longwood, FL An active member of Longwood Baptist Church, she served on the missions committee. Most important, she loved her Lord Jesus and served Him each day through her gifts of prayer and service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie R. Baker; infant son, Bobby Stangler; son, Rudy Baker; brother, Gene Russell; and her parents, Elisha Russell and Lois Russell Ballance. Ann leaves two sons: Rick Stangler (Sharon) and Lee Baker (Lisa); three daughters: Pam Huggins, Gloria Baker, Cheryl Baker, and foster daughter, Kathleen Durland; ten grandchildren: Craig Harden (Sonya), Ryan Stangler, Meggan Huggins, LeAnn Smith, Tiffany Ivey (Sam), Tonya Todd (Joey), Jonathan Huggins, Joshua Baker (Lyndsey), Katlyn Baker, Debra Maya Baker, and thirteen great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held at Highland Memory Gardens in Apopka, FL on March 21st at 11:00 AM. For those who cannot attend, there will be a live broadcast of the service that can be viewed online.
