Dale Peter Callahan
Niantic - Dale Peter Callahan, 82, of Niantic passed away Feb. 26, 2021, at the Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven. Dale was born Oct. 5, 1938, in New London the son of John J. and Agatha (Billodeau) Callahan. A 1960 graduate of University of Connecticut, Dale was employed as an insurance underwriter for Aetna and John Hancock. He was employed as car salesperson for Caldrello Motors as a Mercedes Sales Specialist. An avid student of the U.S. Constitution, Dale was the co-host of a syndicated radio program "A Touch of Gray". He was a frequent caller on the Lee Elci radio program. Dale enjoyed life and had a favorite saying "Enjoy Life". His interests included a good game of poker, playing the horses, birds, photography, umpiring playing baseball and traveling. His companion of eighteen years, Joyce Powers; a son, Dan Callahan of Southington; and three daughters, Lisa Page, Cynthia Petersen both of Brooklyn and of Sharon Afework of Columbia, Md. all survive him. Seven grandchildren, Jessica, Karissa, and Michael Page, Carolyn and Victoria Callahan, Kaleb Afework, and Ella Petersen also survive him. A brother John "Jack" Callahan predeceased him. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Mary Cemetery, Jefferson Avenue, New London.
