Mildred Mazzella, 83 Proud grandmother of three Proud mother and grandmother, Mildred Mazzella, 83 passed away on February 24, 2021 due to complications with COVID-19 virus. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 30, 1937 to Paul and Angela Balzano. She graduated Prospect Heights High School, Brooklyn, NY, in 1954, and later married Louis Mazzella on February 1, 1958. After a few years they moved to Staten Island in 1966 with their two children Gerard and MaryLynn. Aside from being a homemaker, Mildred worked as an Executive Secretary at Grace National Bank, NYC from 1955 - 1961. She later returned to the work force in 1973 where she started her 30+ years of employment with Sears, Roebuck & Co., as a Store Trainer Personnel Assistant/Interviewer. She enjoyed caring for and spending time with her three granddaughters, Marisa, Michelle & Gianna. She was a parishioner of St. Charles Church in Oakwood. She enjoyed sspending time with her husband Louis and playing on various bowling leagues together. She enjoyed her card games with her longtime girlfriends as well as going to Broadway plays and Atlantic City trips. Her husband Louis Mazzella passed away in 2004 after 46 years of marriage. Mildred is survived by her son Gerard Mazzella and his wife Ginny, her daughter MaryLynn Pica and husband Louis and three granddaughters. Family and friends will be received at Hanley Funeral Home, 60 New Dorp Lane on Sunday 2/28 from 4:00-8:00PM.
