RON DOUTHETT Ronald (Ron to his friends) Laverne Douthett was born on February 25, 1932, to Anna and DeWayne in South Buffalo, Pennsylvania, and passed away January 30, 2021, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ron spent his youth in Pennsylvania, where his free time was spent hunting, fishing, bike riding, watching movies, playing softball and touch football. Once he turned 16, he worked most summers at local dairies bailing and hauling hay. When Ron turned eighteen, he decided to enlist into the Marines and served in many locations including South and North Carolina, Okinawa Japan, Albany Georgia, Washington DC, Arlington Virginia, Vietnam (two tours), Louisville Kentucky, Albany Georgia, Guantanamo Bay Cuba and his last assignment in Barstow California. In 1972 Ron was stationed in Barstow California, at the United States Marine Corps. -Yermo, where he met and married Mary L. York, who had three children, Rene', Mitch and Reneeta, whom Ron has spent many years enjoying being a stepfather to, and grandfather of, their nine grandchildren. Ron proudly served as a Marine for a total of 20 years. After his retirement, while working at Barstow Unified School District, Mary convinced him to move to Pueblo, Colorado, where Ron begun serving in the Fleet Marine Corp. Reserve, and as security staff at the Pueblo Ordnance Depot, until his retirement to a public citizen in 1986, when they both moved to Boulder City, Nevada. Ron continued to work as Security for the Skyline Restaurant and Casino for 20 more years retiring in 2006. Ron has enjoyed living in Boulder City and spending his days visiting his friends many of whom enjoy the Senior Center of Boulder City, walking, discussing football, baseball and other sports with football and his favorite teams the Pittsburgh Steelers, Raiders and San Francisco Giants. Ron will be laid to rest with his wife, Mary L. York Douthett, who passed in 2002. Private burial will be at a later date at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary and Cemetery.
