Thomas O. Richey
Thomas O. Richey, of Honey Brook PA, died on January 22, 2021 at Tel Hai Retirement Community. He was 92 years old. He lived in Chester County for many years and moved to Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook in 2003. Mr. Richey was born in Philadelphia. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1949, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He rowed on the Varsity Crew. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1952 – 1954 Mr. Richey worked at Curtis Publishing Company as an Office Manager. In 1964 he joined the Philadelphia Inquirer as an Advertising Department Office Manager, later being promoted to Director of Personnel. In 1972 he was named to Division Head of Personnel and Administrative Services for Philadelphia Newspapers Inc., Publisher of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News. He joined Mainline Federal Savings Bank in 1977, and retired in 1991 as Vice President and Manager – Human Resource Department. He served on the Board of Directors of The Philadelphia Chapter of the Society for Human Resources Management. He also served as Chairman of The Human Resources Committee of the Savings Institutions of the Delaware Valley and was a member of The Personnel Committee of the Pennsylvania Association of Savings Institutions. Mr. Richey was a member of the Tredyffrin Township, Chester County Republican Committee, and served as Voter Registration Chairman of the Chester County Republican Committee for many years. After retirement, he was a volunteer for many years at Paoli Hospital, and the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Mr. Richey enjoyed traveling, and reading history, archaeology, and politics. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia, and predeceased by his daughter, Megan M. McGuire, who passed away in 2005. Services were at the Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli, and burial will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to the Church of the Good Samaritan, Paoli, or The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archeology and Anthropology, or Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook PA.
