William Franklin Hoover Feb. 18, 1946 - Feb. 19, 2021 William Franklin Hoover passed peacefully Feb. 19, 2021 at a Portland hospital. He was born Feb. 18, 1946 in Portland, Ore., the son of Walter Franklin and Lois Adele (Williams) Hoover. "Bill" grew up in the Portland area, graduated from Scappoose High School in 1964, and had a scholarship from OIT to study electronics. However, he decided to become a skilled mason like his father and his grandfather before him. He worked locally in the trade for more than 50 years, had a hand in building many historic landmarks and buildings, and was quite the historian on Portland architecture. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, and had a passion for fishing, rafting, and golf. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lois Hoover; as well as his younger sister, Laurie Ann Hoover; and youngest brother, Todd Lee Hoover. He is survived by his brother, Michael Hoover; and four children, Tamara Dee VanDeWege, Christine Renee Brusse, William Bryant Hoover, and Amber Joy Burket; as well as 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
