In memory of
Darling, Elgin Willis, MI Age 84, went to be with his Lord, Sunday morning, February 21, 2021 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 10, 1936 in Willis, Michigan to Gilbert and Iown (Crandall) Darling. Elgin was a Milan High School Graduate, Michigan State University Agricultural Short Course Graduate and a member of the Michigan State University Kellogg Study Group number Five. He married his 4-H sweetheart Joanne Masschelin on January 25, 1958 and she survives. Elgin and Joanne raised their three children on the farm he grew up on and cultivated his entire life. He was a life-long Monroe County Farmer; a steward and conservationist of the soil that God had blessed his family. In addition, he was actively involved in Monroe County Farm Bureau, Michigan Corn Growers, Michigan Corn Marketing Committee, Michigan Soybean Growers, The National Feed Grain Council, Holstein Association, DHIA, Michigan Tractor Pullers, and the Tri-County 2 Cylinder Club along with an avid supporter of 4-H and FFA. He also served as London Township Clerk and was a longtime member of the Marble Memorial United Methodist Church of Milan. Elgin loved everything about farming; driving tractors and combines on the family farm. He was always willing to talk about agricultural issues with any interested person and loved to educate those who wanted to learn. He reveled in tractor pulls and took pleasure in just being around his farm. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He is survived by his wife loving and devoted wife, Joanne (63 years married), his brother Norman Darling of Virginia, three children: Doug (Helen) Darling of Maybee, Michigan. Pam Darling of Florida, Dale (Judy) Darling of Granite Bay, California, five grandchildren: Brittnee (Dolan) Bryan of Florida, Ian Darling of Modesto, California, Dayton (Veronica) Darling of Willis, Simon Darling of Maybee, and Landon Darling of Granite Bay, California.
