BREARLEY, SARAH J. Caledonia, MI Sarah Jane Brearley (Cooper), aged 85, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at home with loved ones by her side. Sarah was born on November 8, 1935 to Reed and Rita Cooper. After attending Caledonia Schools; she married Amos Brearley Jr. on July 11, 1953. She worked many years at Sears & Roebuck all the while farming with Amos and their children. She was a hard worker, who loved being outside, gardening, canning, and had a passion for making maple syrup. Sarah was a great baker; she always had a pie at any gathering and was famous for her rolls and potato salad. She had a wealth of knowledge and shared it with everyone. Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Amos; grandson, Zachary; parents, Reed and Rita Cooper; brother, Roy; and sisters, Ruth and Doris. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sally (Doug) McClure, Larry Brearley, Bob (Marva) Brearley, Doug Brearley; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; siblings, Ruby House, Dorothy Brearley, Arlene Tudor, Rog (Pat) Cooper, Marlene (Tom) Purdy; and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to her caregiver, Janice; who she shared a special bond with and so lovingly took care of her for many years. And to her nephew, Dale and Kim Betz; who helped her out in more ways than we know. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Leighton United Methodist Church, 4180 2nd Street, Caledonia, MI; with family friend Joyce Hawkins officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery. The family will greet visitors on Tuesday, Feb. 23, from 6 to 8 pm at the Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street, SE; and on Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 10 to 11 am at Leighton Church.
