Zelda Williams
WILLIAMS, Zelda Zelda Williams, age 85, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 13 after a long hard battle with dementia. She is now at peace, no longer suffering and with her Lord and Savior who she loved. She was born on May 21, 1935 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Fay Donalson and Elton Amyett. She was a strong woman who was determined for a better life. She raised five children and later in life drove a school bus for over 20 years for disabled children. She developed a life-long friendship with a co-worker, Maxine Gardner, and oh how they loved to drink coffee and shop. She was an active church member for as long as she could be and enjoyed reading the Bible daily for hours at a time. She was determined to stay in her own home and did so until she broke her ankle in November. Zelda is survived by her son David Hedge of Mesquite, son Eddie Hedge of Frisco, and daughter Carol Williams and wife Anne Marcom of Dallas. She is also survived by sister Fay Carroll and husband Leonard, brother Larry "Lucky" Amyett and grandchildren Lindsey Hedge and Danny Hedge. In addition, she is survived by her good friends and neighbors Maxine, Martha Nichols, Janette Rogers, Mitzi Shewmake and caretaker Janette Ashton. The family wishes to express our gratitude for everything you all did to help care for mom and bring a smile to her face along the way. She also left behind her treasured dogs Penny and Prince and as if he knew something was not right Prince fell asleep two nights after she passed away and did not wake up again. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Ronald Williams, son James Williams, son Danny Hedge, parents Fay and Elton Amyett and sisters Virginia Bryant and Rythma Turner. Due to the pandemic, the family has made the difficult decision to forgo a service at this time.
