In memory of
SUSAN MARY Kleinbach
April 20, 1950 – February 5, 2021 Susan Mary Kleinbach passed away at home, surrounded by family, on February 5th, 2021. She was 70 years of age. Sue was born April 20th, 1950, the daughter of Carl and Naomi (Blair) Geiger. She was raised in Sacramento, and spent her summers at the Geiger family cabin in Monte Rio on the Russian River. She moved to Fort Bragg in the early 1980s where she worked at Graders Fishery and Dolphin Isle Marina. In the late 1980s she started a nearly 30 year career in banking at American Savings which eventually became Washington Mutual, and retired in 2013. Sue met her soon-to-be husband, Jere Kleinbach, in 1984 in Fort Bragg. The pair were married a year later and raised two children, Jake and Joleen. Sue had a huge heart; she was 'Momma Sue' to all of her kids' friends and opened their home up to everyone in the neighborhood. She spent countless hours on the sidelines of their athletic games and volunteering for all the school fundraisers. Sue was a friend to everyone; it was impossible for her to go anywhere, even out of town, without running into someone she knew. She loved being outside and spent most of her retirement outdoors growing huge hydrangea plants, award-winning rhododendrons, feeding the hummingbirds - which were her favorite, and taking her dogs to the park or on play dates. Her favorite retirement activity, however, was being a grandma. Her smile was never bigger than when spending time with her two grandkids – be it on an adventure to the Safari, berry-picking by the beach, or playing together at home. They were the light of her life. Sue is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jere; children Joleen Kleinbach, Jake (Kelly) Kleinbach; grandchildren, Jason (6), and Tessa (3). Her family would like to thank the staff of Cancer Resource Center of Mendocino County and the Oncology Department at MCDH for their top-notch care and support over the last 18 months. They're truly angels among us. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Sue's honor to either the Cancer Resource Center of Mendocino County or Bones Pet Rescue of Covelo. Services for Sue will be arranged by the family at a later date. Sue was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed greatly and remembered fondly by the family and friends she leaves behind.
