He was a native of the Belle Sumpter Community and a Westfield High School graduate. Mr. Bennett was afforded an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army and retried from General Motors. He was predeceased by parents, Sid and Jimmie Christian Bennett and children, Donald, Jr. and Karen. Cherished memories remain with the widow, Lula Powell Bennett; children, Reuben Bennett, Pamela Horne and Regina Bennett-Perkins; siblings, Helen Jones, Marilyn Bennett, Minnie Ruth Colston and Eva Whetstone. Graveside Ceremony is Noon Wednesday at Ebenezer Churchyard, Belle Sumpter, Rev. Ernest Robinson, Jr., Officiant. Calling Hours at Johnson Memorial, Bessemer, Tuesday Noon until 8:00.
