On Feb 12, Vance, at the age of 93, transitioned peacefully at home to his next chapter in heaven. Born Oct 25, 1927 in Harrisburg, Pa. The son of Arthur Charles Scout and Anna Roush Scout. Vance a 1945 graduate of Susquehanna Twp HS served in US Army Air Force in Manila and Japan 1946 /1947. In 1952 he graduated from Penn State University with a degree in commerce and finance, minors in insurance and real estate. While attending Penn State he was an honored member of the Varsity Lacrosse Team. During a 50 year business career in the Harrisburg area, he was a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), business owner and land developer. Beginning in 1959 he represented New England Life where he became a member of their hall of fame and a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table. He was past president of the Central Pa Association of Life Underwriters. In 1976 he served as president of West Shore Country Club. For many years in Camp Hill he enjoyed coaching teener baseball. In 1977 he purchased Paper Distributors in Harrisburg and in 1987 he sold it to Ris Paper. Always moving forward he soon developed Conewago Creek estates in Londonderry Twp. Dauphin Co. Hobbies included hunting with his bird dogs, fishing and golf. Painting and frequent car adventures with Karen filled his time during his golden years. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 yrs Karen L Scout, daughter Debra Scout (Ed) of Va, son Douglas Scout of Mechanicsburg. Stepsons, Craig Jones (Judy) of Fl. Scott Jones (Paula) of Enola. Two sisters Joyce Scout Smedley of Lancaster and Patsy Scout Bogar of Co. Barbara Linnekin McCulloh mother of his two children. Six grand children and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be at the convenience of family.
