Robert J. Cook Born: October 27, 1934 Died: February 14, 2021 Robert J. Cook, 86, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Sunday, February 14, 2021, at his home. He was born October 27, 1934, in DeKalb, Illinois. Bob lived his life with his home base as DeKalb. Post high school he was employed by Virgil Cook and Son Electrical Contractors. He worked his way up quickly to become a business partner. While attending school, he was an athlete and loved all sports. His love of sports continued throughout his life adjusting from participant to finding joy as spectator at Soldier Field or a spectator from his recliner. He loved hunting and fishing. Bob was proud to have earned his captain's license so he could safely fish the Great Lakes to the deep sea. He was always eager for spring fishing at the Wolf River in Wisconsin, and felt fortunate to have been a part of the "White Bass Run" for more than 60 years. He shared that experience enthusiastically with his family and hosted many friends. He enjoyed the training and handling of his loved Labrador Retrievers, for field trial competitions. The field trial world introduced him to many wonderful friends from all over the country. Bob was a wonderful father and grandfather. No one enjoyed the Christmas season more than Bob. Family gatherings were focused on the traditions that he loved. It always brought out the kid in him.   Bob was known by many to have an amazing positive attitude and outlook on life. He battled cancer with unwavering courage, appreciated the care he was given and showed true gratitude for a life well lived. He was loved and will be missed by many. He was a member of the DeKalb Masonic Lodge, Ducks Unlimited, and The First Baptist Church. He is survived by his children, Bob Cook (Linda) of Duck Creek Village, UT, Pam Cook-Webb (Sherm Webb) of Sycamore, IL, Brian Cook (Darla) of DeKalb, IL brother-in-law, Sam Crooke of Boca Raton, FL Grandchildren, Katelyn Webb of Miami Beach, FL Travis Webb of Fort Collins, CO and Rachel Sebree of Palm Coast, FL One great-granddaughter, Belle (Rachel) and two nephews Michael Cook, (Mary Kay) of WY and Ron Cook, (Carol) of CA. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, travel, fishing and fun-loving partner Jane, his parents Howard and Ariel (Shipp) brother, Bill Cook, in-laws, Tom and Dorothy Crooke, ex-wife, friend and mother of his children, Joyce (Wood) Maier. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date due to Covid concerns. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the National Foundation for Cancer Research in the memory of Robert J.
