Edith Elizabeth (Dee) Tobin Fort Collins - Edith Elizabeth (Dee) Tobin passed away from natural causes on January 26, 2021. Edie was born on September 23, 1922, in Denver, to John and Edith Hamsher. Her father died when she was 7, and the family subsequently moved to California where her mother married George Dee. George adopted her and her brother Jack (deceased). Edie graduated from the University of Colorado in 1946. She married John Tobin in 1948; a marriage that lasted 67 years, until his passing in 2016. They had three children: John, Bob and Mary. Edie was very active in their lives. She was president of the PTA at Dunn Elementary, Lincoln Junior High, and Poudre High School as well as volunteering. Edie was a cub and brownie scout leader and one of her favorite memories was when she was Cookie Chairman. "That year we had cookies stacked to the ceiling in our breakfast room." Edie was on the board of directors for the American Cancer Society and served as their secretary. Edie also enjoyed her bridge clubs, "Stitch and Bitch" group, as well as dinner clubs. Edie and John enjoyed golf, fishing, plays, and traveling (they were able to visit all 50 states, and Australia, New Zealand, and 4 trips to Europe). Edie is survived by her sister, Georgia; her son, John (Deanna); daughter, Mary; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
