In memory of
Gloria Troy (nee Abrams) was a loving mother, devoted grandmother and caring friend. She left this life on February 7th, 2021, peacefully passing in her sleep. Her family and friends will remember Gloria as a woman full of life, always interested in other people and wanting to learn and experience new things. She was tough and independent and lived life her way. When her time here was nearing its end, she also chose when to pass, after seeing her family and saying her final goodbyes. Gloria had many friends and spent her time visiting, traveling and playing bridge with them. She loved being active and walked everywhere. She was a New Yorker through and through and often walked to engagements instead of taking cabs or the subway. She seemed to experience the heartbeat of the City the most when walking in it. Gloria also loved her dogs, her close companions for most of her life. She was so happy when with her dogs and they were an important part of her life. She spent many years working at The Municipal Art Society of New York as Senior Vice President to ensure that the skyline of her beloved city was protected. During her time at the The Municipal Art Society, she made many lifelong friends who helped her celebrate her well-deserved retirement in 2004. After retirement she continued to enjoy all the glory of New York City including enrolling in numerous continuing education courses, dining out and the arts, especially Peoples' Symphony Concerts, where she had a subscription for many years. Gloria leaves behind her son, Jonathan Troy (Carin), daughter, Jennifer Troy, ex-husband and dear friend Ronald Troy and two grandchildren (Emily Troy, Nicole Troy). Family was her life and she was an adoring grandmother. Her granddaughters were so fortunate to have "GG" in their lives, learning from her and spending time with her. No funeral service is planned for Gloria. A celebration of her life will be planned for later in the year when it is safer to gather, and a bench will be donated in memoriam. The family asks that you keep Gloria in your thoughts and hearts and welcomes donations in her memory to The Municipal Art Society of New York ( https://www.mas.org/support/ ) or Peoples' Symphony Concerts ( www.pscny.org/support ).
