In memory of
AnnaMarie Mario May 31, 1934 to January 30, 2021 On January 30, 2021, AnnaMarie Mario, loving wife and mother of five, passed away at the age of 86. Ann was born in Chicago to Margaret and Albert Caponigro who preceded her in death, along with her brother William (Willie). She is survived by her sister Rosalie (married to Tom Mikich) and brother Phillip Caponigro. It was in Chicago in 1956 that she met her husband, Vern, who was in the service. Ann and Vern were married in 1958. A year later, they started their family with the birth of Maria Elena, followed in consecutive years by Catherine Ann, Michelle Marie, Vincent Paul and Francis Joseph. To Ann, her family was everything. She raised her five children in the Chicago area, then Northridge, CA. When the youngest, Frank, entered kindergarten, Ann went back to work. While working, she also went back to school and earned an associate's degree from Pierce Jr. College in Woodland Hills, CA. Ann had a long, successful career in the banking industry and retired in 1997 as branch manager of Bank of America. Soon after retirement, Ann and Vern moved from Northridge to Palm Desert Greens Country Club (PDGCC) and have enjoyed a very active social life for over 20 years. Ann always loved music. She played the accordion and the piano, and she loved to dance and sing. When Ann and Vern hit the dance floor to jitterbug, all eyes were on them. Ann participated in and held leadership positions in many social clubs at PDGCC including the Entertainers group, Desert Greens Singers and the Foxy Ladies dance group. She will be missed by many friends in the community. Of all her accomplishments in life, she was most proud of her family and considered her children to be her best friends; Maria (married to Dave Mosier), Cathe (married to Andy Gayer, Michelle (married to Michael Krans, deceased, and partner to Chris Granger), Vince (married to Vicky Mario) and Frank. Her children and their partners loved Ann as much as she loved them. If you ever visited Ann and Vern's place, you know that the house is adorned with photos of her family, including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ann is survived by Vern, her husband of 62 years, her five children and their spouses, her eight adoring grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, with another on the way. Ann cherished her family and many friends. Her caring spirit will live on in our hearts.
