CECIL BLANTON June 18, 1943 ˜ February 6, 2021 Cecil Blanton, age 77, died Feb. 6, 2021, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born June 18, 1943, in Qualla, NC, to Edward and Pearlie (Laws) Blanton. Cecil moved to Anchorage, AK, in 1961 after graduating from Sylva-Webster High School. While attending Alaska Methodist University, Cecil met the love of his life, Connie. They were married Aug. 18, 1963. After spending most of the following 44 years in Alaska, they left the Last Frontier in 2005 and moved to Vancouver, WA, in order to be closer to their four grandchildren. Of all the things that could be said about Cecil, what his family and friends will remember the most are his outgoing personality, pride in his North Carolina roots and the utter love and devotion he showed to his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. He was a devoted Christian, putting his full trust in Jesus Christ. Cecil is survived by his two children, Cheri Chavers (Tyler) and Mark Blanton of Vancouver; grandchildren, Austin and Amber Chavers, Hannah Blanton of Vancouver and Matthew Blanton of Parkersburg, WV; sisters, Glee Banner and Lois Smith (Ron) of Weaverville, NC. In 2009, he was preceded in death, and never quite recovered, by his wife of 46 years, Connie Blanton. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a card to the staff of Cecil’s last earthly home, Brookdale Vancouver Stonebridge, 7900 NE Vancouver Mall Dr., Vancouver, WA 98662. Their care of him overall but especially during a pandemic was nothing short of miraculous. They made arrangements so his family was able to be with him in his last days, a kindness that will never be forgotten. Please share a memory @ www.columbian.com/obits
