In Loving Memory John Dana Armstrong Dec. 9, 1927 - Jan. 15, 2021 John Dana "Jack" Armstrong, the only child of the late John Ralph Armstrong and Florence Evelyn Heath Armstrong was born Dec. 9, 1927 in Portland, Ore., at Emanuel Hospital. He graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1946. Following graduation, Jack enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He saw service all over the Pacific theater, including Guam, Peleliu, and Japan. After his discharge in 1948, Jack began his college career at Vanport College. He was united in holy matrimony to Hester Burdette Thompson Sept. 1, 1949. In September of 1950 the couple moved to Corvallis where Jack attended Oregon State College. Jack completed his Bachelor's Degree with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Chemistry in 1953. Upon his graduation from OSC the two moved back to Portland and raised a family of four boys. Jack enjoyed a long career in Industrial Building Material Sales. His career stretched into his eighties due to the great joy he gained working with and helping people. Jack was a committed member of Westminster Presbyterian Church serving in several capacities during his years there. He was an accomplished member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Oregon holding many positions and memberships within that organization. Jack and Hester enjoyed traveling in their later years and especially their trips to Hawaii. Both Jack and Hester, who preceded him in death (2019), spent the last years of their lives at Willamette View. Jack's loving and inspirational life will be forever cherished in the lives of: his son, John P. (Phil) Armstrong, and his wife Janice of Happy Valley, Ore., their daughter Nicole D. (Nikki) Teune, her husband, Eric and their daughters, Emalyn R. Teune and Greylie J. Teune; his son, Thomas D. Armstrong of Vancouver, Wash., his daughter, Michelle Armstrong and son Michael Armstrong; his son, Robert A. Armstrong of Portland, Ore.; and his son, Daniel E.
